About the Author
About the Author: Stephen Hawking is a British theoretical physicist, mathematician, cosmologist and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge. He was born in Oxford, England in 1942. He held the position of Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge for many years and still has an office at the Department for Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics. He has been working towards creating a theory that unifies general relativity with quantum theory. He has won many awards and is the recipient of 12 honorary degrees. He was diagnosed with Acquiring Locked-in Syndrome in 1963 which has forced him to move around using a wheelchair and he uses a computerized voice system in order to communicate. His other works include The Grand Design, The Universe in A Nutshell and Black Holes And Baby Universes And Other Essays.
